KI Future Leaders - now a locally led program

The Kangaroo Island Future Leaders Program (KIFLP) is entering an exciting new chapter, with applications now open for the 2026 intake and the program officially transitioning to being locally owned and delivered.

Thanks to generous funding from Bendigo Community Bank Kangaroo Island, and with the support of Kangaroo Island Our Town, who auspice the funding, the program will now be coordinated on the Island by a newly formed committee of KIFLP and Fleurieu Future Leaders Program (FFLP) alumni.

This important milestone ensures the long-term sustainability of a leadership initiative that has already had a profound impact on participants and the broader community.

Committee Chair Maria Waters said bringing the program fully under local leadership is a significant achievement.

“The Kangaroo Island Future Leaders Program is truly transformative,” Ms Waters said. “It brings a high-quality leadership and personal development opportunity to our local community that would otherwise be difficult to access without travelling off the Island. Having it delivered locally removes barriers and strengthens leadership capacity right here at home.”
